Active Duty vs. Reserve Duty vs. National Guard

Active duty Soldiers are part of the Army 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Army Reserve Soldiers serve part-time, and are able to work a civilian career, go to school and live where they want. Army National Guard is an essential element to the U.S. Military, protecting communities across the U.S. while serving part-time.
