My name is Drill Sergeant Staples here are Fort Jackson, South Carolina and I'm here to answer a question for Tevin from Cambria Heights, New York. His question is; "I believe the Army life style is one I'll be living pretty soon, but I have one question. I have dread locks, is it optional for a man to cut his hair?"

The answer to that question is dreadlocks are not authorized in the military. So yes your hair will be cut and as long as you're in basic training it will be cut, basically bald. And once you go to AIT you can have low cut.
