Cadet Lingk takes the final step to become a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army.

“ ROTC has given me the confidence, strength, and determination to thrive not only in the military as an Army officer but also in the civilian workforce. ”

The Ranger Challenge is an opportunity for schools to "compete" with each other completing military tasks. In addition to a written examination where Cadets test their Army knowledge, there are physical fitness drills and field exercises. Battalions leave a Ranger Challenge with stronger bonds and sharper skills.

The National Society of Pershing Rifles gives Army ROTC Cadets the opportunity to develop to the highest degree possible. Cadets can take part in precision trick rifle drill teams that provide them with the outstanding traits of leadership, military bearing and discipline.

Commissioning Ceremony

Each May and December several Cadets are commissioned into the Army as 2nd Lieutenants.   The commissioning ceremony is often attended by family, friends, University faculty and staff, and generally has a distinguished guest speaker.

Fall Field Training Exercise

Every fall the Fox Valley Battalion comes together and travels to Fort McCoy for a weekend of excellent training.  The training starts with a rigorous confidence course and then Saturday morning usually involves field leadership training in the woods and weather permitting several helicopters fly in to give rides.  Then Saturday evening ends with a night land navigation event that will push your limits and instill confidence in the cadets.
