Hello, my name is Private Scott Schaurer from Dayton, Ohio. Question today from Mark from Riley, Texas; "What is it like to be away from your family for a long time?"

Mark, I recently am engaged and I'm away from my fiancée. It's been 16 weeks now all together from my basic training and my AIT. It's been very difficult but as a Soldier you'll be forced to be away from family on deployments. So it kinda gets you used to what it's going to be like. You can still make letters, you can still write letters and you can still make phone calls from time to time. It is very challenging and one of the things you'll have to do to become a Soldier.
