Hi, my name is Captain Jason Sanchez, and I'm a basic training Company Commander in Charlie Company 246. Lana from Memphis, Tennessee asks; "How does the Red Cross notification work and what is the purpose?"

A Red Cross notification is when something happens at the Soldiers' home of record and that family member will contact the Red Cross and the Red Cross will then notify our Battalion Headquarters.

Battalion Headquarters will in turn notify the chain of command. As the chain of command will look at the training schedule and find a three to seven day span that will best suit the Soldier to go home to correct whatever needs to be corrected at home and them return back to basic training to complete graduation requirements and in turn graduate.
