CPT Joe Kearney

Captain Joe Kearney 1997

Upon graduation from high school, Captain Kearney enlisted in the Army as anInfantryman (11B) and was stationed with the 1/ 506th Infantry inSouth Korea.  Upon completion of his tour he was then assigned to the 5/101st Aviation at Fort Campbell, KY as a door gunner.  CaptainKearney then left the active Army to go to college.

In 1997 Captain Kearney earned his B.A. in Criminal Justice and enteredactive duty as a Signal Officer.  His first assignment was with the123rd Signal Battalion at Fort Stewart, GA.  While serving as amulti-channel satellite platoon leader he deployed on several operations toinclude Operation Desert Thunder in Kuwait.  Captain Kearney thentransferred to the 2nd and 3rd Battalions of the7th Infantry Regiment (Cottonbalers) were he served as a Task ForceSignal Officer and deployed to Kosovo for Operation Joint Guardian.

After serving in the 3rd Infantry Division for nearly 5 years,Captain Kearney was assigned to the 1111th Signal Battalion (now114th Signal Battalion) at Fort Detrick, MD  where he commandedthe Headquarters and Headquarters Company for 18 months.  Upon changing ofcommand Captain Kearney then attended the Signal Captains Career Course.

Captain Kearney is currently serving as the Enrollment and Executive Officerfor the Pioneer Battalion and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justicefrom Widener University.
