Upper-class Army cadets bear much of the responsibility for running the FTX and serve as leaders at all levels. The second classmen rotated through small-unit leadership positions, at the company level and below, in both field and garrison environments. In addition, they received individual assessment and feedback from each of these leadership opportunities. The first classmen serve throughout the year as the Marshall-New Market Battalion staff, as well as training and evaluation officers at the battalion level. Many of these cadets began working on the Spring FTX as early as last December, and the success of the exercise is a tribute to their abilities and leadership.
