Playing Pintball as part of your grade is a dirty job, but someone has to do it!

UWF cadets have the opportunity to enjoy paintball several times during the year.

“ UWF Army ROTC makes learning fun. Force-on- force paintball makes tactics training come alive. ”

The Ranger Challenge is an opportunity for schools to "compete" with each other completing military tasks. In addition to a written examination where Cadets test their Army knowledge, there are physical fitness drills and field exercises. Battalions leave a Ranger Challenge with stronger bonds and sharper skills.

The National Society of Pershing Rifles gives Army ROTC Cadets the opportunity to develop to the highest degree possible. Cadets can take part in precision trick rifle drill teams that provide them with the outstanding traits of leadership, military bearing and discipline.

Commissioning Ceremony

Each year the Argonaut Battalion holds two to three commissioningceremonies.  These are extremely important events and treated with greatreverance.  Moms and dads often shed tears as they pin the gold bars ontheir Lieutenants.

Following the commissioning ceremony, at UWF, the tradition of the first saluteis honored with the new 2LTs awarding a silver dollar to the NCO who taughtthem the most.  (After receiveing their first salute of course.)

Hosting JROTC Activities

Each year the UWF cadets host two outstanding JROTC activities.  Thefirst activity executed during the fall semester is the JROTC Best RangerCompetition.  This incredibly demanding competition is a one day eventthat includes an Army physical fitness test, a team two-mile stretcher run, apaint ball assault range and combat dodge ball challenge.  The secondevent in the spring semester is an orienteering meet that challenges teams withboth urban and deeply wooded courses.  Many UWF cadets participate inthese events as JROTC cadets before joining the Argonauts at the college leveland helping to host the events.
