“ As an MS III, I practiced fundamental skills in preparation for the Leader Development Assessment Course (LDAC ) and have been able to acquire a better understanding of what will be expected of me. ”

The Ranger Challenge is an opportunity for schools to "compete" with each other completing military tasks. In addition to a written examination where Cadets test their Army knowledge, there are physical fitness drills and field exercises. Battalions leave a Ranger Challenge with stronger bonds and sharper skills.

The National Society of Pershing Rifles gives Army ROTC Cadets the opportunity to develop to the highest degree possible. Cadets can take part in precision trick rifle drill teams that provide them with the outstanding traits of leadership, military bearing and discipline.

Organizational Day

Organization Day is an annual activity held by the Dons Battalion to welcome the new cadets. The battalion splits up into squads to play competitive sporting games. Additionally, each MS class competes against each other in a tug-of-war tournament.

Every fall semester, the battalion gathers for a formal dinner. The cadets are able to familiarize themselves with the procedures, and the customs and courtesies of formal Dining-In. Dining-In allows the cadets to socialize with one another while fostering esprit de corps and unit pride.

Field Training Exercise (FTX)

Every semester the cadets attend a three day Field Training Exercise (FTX). The training consists of: obstacle course, land navigation, patrolling, and situational training exercises (STX). The purpose of FTX is to train the cadets for LDAC, BOLC II and future careers as Army officers.

Military Ball

The Dons Battalion’s Annual Military Ball celebrates the conclusion of the year’s training and achievements. It is also a time to recognize our graduating seniors before they are commissioned as Second Lieutenants.

Commissioning Ceremony

Each spring and winter MS IV cadets are commissioned into the United States Army as 2LTs. The ceremony marks the completion of their "cadet life" and the beginning of their life as Army officers. Families, friends, University staff and other distinguished guests take part in the commissioning ceremony.
