ARMY ROTC
ROTC OFFERS MANY OPPORTUNITIES TO EXCEL
In Army ROTC, it's not all classroom and field training. There are many opportunities for you to get to know your fellow cadets better and increase your skills in a variety of areas. Learn more about these events and activities below.

Serving the community
As a Cadet you will perform in ceremonies that honor this great country. You will feel the pride that comes with representing Three Rivers Battalion, your family, and your country.
“ I’ve broadened my experiences as a college student and gained valuable experience interacting with others. ”
Steve Marcucio, Watertown, CT
RANGER CHALLENGE
The Ranger Challenge is an opportunity for schools to "compete" with each other completing military tasks. In addition to a written examination where Cadets test their Army knowledge, there are physical fitness drills and field exercises. Battalions leave a Ranger Challenge with stronger bonds and sharper skills.
PERSHING RIFLES
The National Society of Pershing Rifles gives Army ROTC Cadets the opportunity to develop to the highest degree possible. Cadets can take part in precision trick rifle drill teams that provide them with the outstanding traits of leadership, military bearing and discipline.
Make your university experience unique!
You could wake up every morning, go to class, come back to your dorm, study, and go to sleep…then repeat. Or, you can have fun and do things that others only dream of doing. Three Rivers Battalion wants your college experience a unique one.
Ranger Challenge
If you’re up for the challenge, you can be train with the best. Ranger Challenge is a rigorous set of events that puts you on a team that competes against other universities from across the country. The training is tough and can stand with any major college sports program, but the person that makes it discovers his limits…and surpasses them.
Dining In
The Dining In is a storied tradition in the military. It provides an opportunity for Cadets to recognize the unique nature of their unit and thus build esprit de corps, or team spirit. Each unit holds its own traditions, as does the Three Rivers Battalion, and the Dining In is an event that puts these traditions on parade. Oh yeah, it’s also a great time! Formal Dress (Class A Uniform with formal neckwear) is the uniform…the rest you’ll just have to show up for.
Military Ball
Another fine tradition in the Army is the formal Military Ball. Once an academic year, the Cadets of Three Rivers Battalion participate in a ball that reflects the class and grandeur of their chosen profession. The ball is a formal affair--Dress Blues are worn by the Cadre, Class A Uniform with formal neckwear for the male Cadets, and formal gown or Class A Uniform for the female Cadets. Cadets are encouraged to bring a date and enjoy the festivities which include recognition of award winners, commissionees, a guest speaker, and, of course, music and dancing.
