In Army ROTC, it's not all classroom and field training. There are many opportunities for you to get to know your fellow cadets better and increase your skills in a variety of areas. Learn more about these events and activities below.

Bruin Battalion Cadets and the Silver Screen
One of the interesting facts of life as a Bruin Battalion Cadet is that you have the opportunity to appear in military-themed Hollywood films and television shows. Due to the unique nature of your training, UCLA Army ROTC cadets are involved in the filming of television and movies filmed at UCLA and around Los Angeles. RANGER CHALLENGE
The Ranger Challenge is an opportunity for schools to "compete" with each other completing military tasks. In addition to a written examination where Cadets test their Army knowledge, there are physical fitness drills and field exercises. Battalions leave a Ranger Challenge with stronger bonds and sharper skills.
PERSHING RIFLES
The National Society of Pershing Rifles gives Army ROTC Cadets the opportunity to develop to the highest degree possible. Cadets can take part in precision trick rifle drill teams that provide them with the outstanding traits of leadership, military bearing and discipline.

Formal and Casual Events
Each year, the Bruin Battalion conducts formal and casual events like theMilitary Ball, Dining-In, and Holiday parties. These events hold specialsignificance to the Army, and are an opportunity for you to invite friends orfamily members and share in the experiences of military heritage andtraditions.
Commissioning Ceremony
Each spring several cadets are commissioned into the United States Armyduring ceremonies held on each campus. Families, friends, University Presidentsand other distinguished guests take part in the commissioning as well as theceremonial "First Salute" tradition.
