Note from Lawrence A. Davis, Jr., Chancellor

We appreciate your interest in this 1890 Land Grant Institution with experience in problem solving for Arkansas and the Nation since 1873.   The Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps was established here at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in November 1967 by the Department of the Army.  Although the ROTC program was established in1967, the first classes were not held until September 1968.

Establishment of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps fulfilled the statuesof the Morrill Act of 1890 which required the university to instruct in MSLC.

Since the establishment of the program in 1967 nearly five hundred (500)officers have been commissioned.  As of this date, the highest rank attained by a UAPB commissionee is the rank of Colonel.
