LTG Mikolashek (retired)

5th Colonel of the Regiment and 2d Honorary Colonel

Lieutenant General (Ret.) Mikolashek was born in Akron, Ohio, on 24 November 1947.  He was commissioned in 1969 upon graduation as a Distinguished Military Graduate from the University of Akron.  His overseas assignments include Germany, Vietnam, Japan, Belgium, Italy and Kuwait as well as numerous stateside posts.

LTG Mikolashek assumed duties as the 61st Inspector General of the Army on 1 October 2002, after serving as Commanding General, 3rd US Army, Army Forces Central Command and as Coalition Land Forces Commander. During Operation Enduring Freedom, he commanded all Land Forces conducting combat operations in Afghanistan as well as those Army Forces in the Middle East and Horn of Africa. In addition to the bachelor’s degree in history he received from The University of Akron, LTG Mikolashek also earned a master’s degree in education administration from Michigan State University, and has been awarded an honorary doctor of philosophy of humane letters from the University of Akron.

His military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Armed Forces Staff College, and the U. S. Army War College.

Among his awards and decorations are: the Defense Distinguished Service Medal; the Distinguished Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit; the Bronze Star; the Defense Meritorious Service Medal; the Meritorious Service Medal (two oak leaf clusters); Ranger Tab; Master Parachutist Badge; and Combat Infantryman Badge.

He is married to the former Miss Pittenger, also of Akron. They have two children: a former Army JAG attorney, currently an Assistant US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia; and daughter, who is an anesthetist in Kennesaw, Ga.

Lieutenant Colonel Teolis Jr.

Personnel Services Battalion Commander

Lieutenant Colonel Teolis Jr. is a native of Ohio.  He graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing and a commission as a 2LT, Adjutant General Corps, but initially served in his detail branch, Armor.  Lieutenant Colonel Teolis’ professional military education includes the Armor Officer Basic Course, the Adjutant General Officer Advanced Course, and the Command and General Staff College. 

Lieutenant Colonel Teolis has served in variety of positions in various locations to include: Fort Carson, Colorado, the Republic of Korea, the Training and Doctrine Command, US Total Army Personnel Command, the 10th Mountain Division (Light), Fort Drum, New York, and the Pentagon.  He’s been deployed to Uzbekistan and Afghanistan in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM. 

His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (5 OLC), National Defense Service Medal (Bronze Star), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Expeditionary Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, and the Army Reserve Commendation Medal.  His decorations include the Army Staff Badge, Army Superior Unit Award the Meritorious Unit Citation.

CPT Marshall stands with the Soldiers of Delta Company 2nd Battalion 325th Airborne Infantry, 82nd Airborne Division, prior to their deployment to Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Company Commander, 82nd Airborne Division

Captain Marshall enlisted in the Army in 1987 receiving his commission through the Green to Gold program in 1999 from the University of Akron in Akron, OH. His military education includes training at Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Non-Commission Officers Course, the Infantry Officer Basic Course, and Infantry Officer Advance Course.

CPT Marshall’s military service includes assignments to the 9th Infantry Division Motorized, 1st Armored Division, 2nd Infantry Division, and the 82nd Airborne Division. 

CPT Marshall served as a Rifle Platoon Leader, Anti-Tank Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer with 1-325 AIR, 82nd Airborne Division.  He deployed with the Red Falcons during OIF I serving as the Battalion Logistics Officer. He returned to 2ND BDE in May 2005 following the Captains’ Career Course and was assigned to the Battalion Operations Staff. He is currently the commander of Delta Company 2nd Battalion 325th Airborne Infantry. Heavy Weapons Company deployed in Iraq.   

CPT Marshall’s decorations and awards include the Soldiers’ Medal, the Bronze Star Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (4OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (9OLC), the Army Good Conduct Medal (2), the National Defense Service Medal (2), the Southwest Asia Service Medal (3 BS), the Kosovo Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, the NATO Medal (Kosovo), the Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), the Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), the Presidential Unit Citation,  the Valorous Unit Award, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Expert Infantryman’s Badge, and the Parachutist Badge.
