Simply given the opportunity to earn a unique foreign badge, let alone run the competition, gave the cadets an opportunity that many schools do not have. The camaraderie that was created though the practices and the actual competition will be with us for the rest of our military careers, along with the badge that we get to proudly wear on our uniform.
Jacob Nussrallah, Whitehouse, TX

RANGER CHALLENGE

The Ranger Challenge is an opportunity for schools to "compete" with each other completing military tasks. In addition to a written examination where Cadets test their Army knowledge, there are physical fitness drills and field exercises. Battalions leave a Ranger Challenge with stronger bonds and sharper skills.

PERSHING RIFLES

The National Society of Pershing Rifles gives Army ROTC Cadets the opportunity to develop to the highest degree possible. Cadets can take part in precision trick rifle drill teams that provide them with the outstanding traits of leadership, military bearing and discipline.

Color Guard

The Horned Frog Battalion ROTC Color Guard performs patriotic displays of the nation’s colors at various college and professional events, formal occasions, and memorial ceremonies. Cadets take part in precision drill and ceremony for these events providing them with the outstanding traits of leadership, military bearing and discipline.

Specialty Schools

The Army Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (ROTC) is the world’s premier leadership training program. And TCU Army ROTC offers dynamic and interactive training that focuses on complete leadership development. In addition to our on-campus training program, the Horned Frog Battalion offers training opportunities throughout the world. Participating cadets travel to Japan, Germany, England, and throughout the Unites States to receive hands-on, practical training with Active Duty units of all types and missions. Other training opportunities include Airborne School to learn to parachute and Air Assault School to master rappelling from helicopters; or the Northern and Mountain Warfare schools training to traverse difficult terrain. The Cadet Troop Leader Training and Nurse Summer Training Programs give cadets firsthand experience as Army leaders. Additionally, we recognize the importance of completing an academic degree, competing in athletics, and participating in a variety of student activities to maximize the college experience. In concert with TCU, Army ROTC develops confident, caring, adaptive, ethical leaders who exemplify the core values of TCU and who will succeed in any endeavor.
