The Javelina Battalion

ROTC training began in South Texas at then Texas A&I University in 1951.  The program expanded to then Corpus Christi State University in December 1978 as the Javelina Battalion’s Charlie Company.  The company expanded its’ Basic Course instruction to Del Mar College in the spring semester of 1984.  In 1993, the university changed its name to TexasA&M University - Kingsville.  In 2003, the battalion added two schools in Laredo, Tx. Texas A&M International University and Laredo Community College have already made themselves known in South Texas and continue the great traditions of the Javelina Battalion.

Even though the name changed, the mission of ROTC has remained the same; that is to develop the future leaders of our military and this great nation.
