RANGER CHALLENGE

The Ranger Challenge is an opportunity for schools to "compete" with each other completing military tasks. In addition to a written examination where Cadets test their Army knowledge, there are physical fitness drills and field exercises. Battalions leave a Ranger Challenge with stronger bonds and sharper skills.

PERSHING RIFLES

The National Society of Pershing Rifles gives Army ROTC Cadets the opportunity to develop to the highest degree possible. Cadets can take part in precision trick rifle drill teams that provide them with the outstanding traits of leadership, military bearing and discipline.

Ranger Challenge

During the Fall Semester, Cadets participate in the 5th Brigade Ranger Challenge. The teams consist of 6 Cadets plus 1 alternative. Some of the events are weapons disassembly and assembly, first aid evaluation/ transportation, Army physical fitness test, land navigation (night and day), written examination (patrolling) and a 10k Road March. The Cadets are able to increase their team building skills as well as their leadership skills.

Islander Challenge

An event hosted by the University ROTC Program to increase awareness of the program to the high schools. The events are lead and prepared by the University’s Cadets. Some of the events include: Army Physical Fitness Test, 3.1 mile Road March, Orienteering, Sand Course, and the Rope Bridge Crossing.

Color Guard

The Color Guard team participates in many ceremonies ranging from military balls to University activities like the Veterans Day ceremony. The Cadets that participate get recognition from the community.
