“ Army ROTC has been a very positive aspect of my life. It has provided an environment that rewards excellence and fosters competition. Not only does the program keep you focused on graduation with good grades but it also prepares you to enter the most exciting career in America. My college experience has only benefited due to my enrollment in Army ROTC. ”

RANGER CHALLENGE

The Ranger Challenge is an opportunity for schools to "compete" with each other completing military tasks. In addition to a written examination where Cadets test their Army knowledge, there are physical fitness drills and field exercises. Battalions leave a Ranger Challenge with stronger bonds and sharper skills.

PERSHING RIFLES

The National Society of Pershing Rifles gives Army ROTC Cadets the opportunity to develop to the highest degree possible. Cadets can take part in precision trick rifle drill teams that provide them with the outstanding traits of leadership, military bearing and discipline.

Bataan Memorial Death March

Each year, a small group of cadets trains through the Winter Quarter to participate in this event held in White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. It is a full marathon of 26.2 miles through the desert, with cadets wearing full BDU uniforms and carrying 35 pounds on their back. It is an extreme test of physical and mental endurance.

Color Guard

The Bronco Battalion Color Guard performs ceremonies at Stanford football games, the Special Olympics, SCU baseball games, various local parades, and for organizations such as the VFW and American Legion. It is a fun and meaningful way to represent the Bronco Battalion and the US Army.

Commissioning Ceremony

Each spring several cadets are commissioned into the United States Army during ceremonies held on each campus. Families, friends, University Presidents and other distinguished guests take part in the commissioning as well as the ceremonial "First Salute" tradition.
