ROTC training is tough and demanding.
As an ROTC cadet you will participate in field training exercises (FTX). This training will demand a lot of you physically and mentally. At the completion of an FTX you will have given a 100%
![]() | LTC Robert C. ZancaProfessor of Military ScienceLieutenant Colonel Robert C. Zanca assumed responsibilities as the Dean of Military Sciences in June 2012 coming from the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) and Fort Polk Leesville, Louisiana. At Fort Polk, he managed the installation’s Strategic Communication Program developing and integrating communications to tell the Army and Fort Polk story. He also served as the Brigade Deputy Commander for the 1st Maneuver Enhancement Brigade. In addition to his most recent assignments, he served as the Deputy Intelligence Officer for the 2nd Infantry Division and the Brigade Intelligence Officer for the 210th Fires Brigade – Republic of Korea; Commander, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 303rd Military Intelligence Battalion, in Operation Iraqi Freedom II, Baghdad, Iraq; served in the Division G2, 1st Cavalry Division in Operation Iraqi Freedom II, Baghdad, Iraq; served as the Brigade Intelligence Officer for the 75th Exploitation Task Force in Operation Iraqi Freedom and the 75th Field Artillery Brigade at Fort Sill, OK; served as the Executive Officer of Delta Company and as a Platoon Leader in Alpha Company, 201st Military Intelligence Battalion at Fort Gordon, GA; and served as an Assistant Brigade S2 of the 1st Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Korea. His military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, and Combat Action Badge. He is a 2007 graduate of the International Master of Business Administration Program at the Darla Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC; a 1994 graduate of the Master of Public Administration Program at Grambling State University, Grambling, LA; a 1992 graduate of Louisiana Tech University, Ruston, LA, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. His military education includes the Army Command and General Staff College Intermediate-Level Education, the Army Combined Arms and Service Staff School, the Infantry Captain’s Career Course, and the Military Intelligence Officer Basic Course. LTC Zanca’s international leadership experiences include Korea, Panama, Honduras, Kuwait, Iraq, and Germany. |
