MSU Army ROTC is a program of leadership and military skills training. Itprepares MSU students for officer responsibilities in the active Army, ArmyReserve, or Army National Guard following graduation.

At MSU, more than 300 students take Army ROTC courses on campus each year.They include students from business, nursing, humanities, education andbehavioral sciences, science and technology, and all other academic fields.Each year, about 15 MSU students complete the Army ROTC program and earnpresidential appointments as Army officers.

Battalion History

In 1967 during the height of the Vietnam anti-war protests, when manyUniversities were pushing ROTC programs off their campuses, Morehead StateUniversity was actively lobbying to establish a program on their campus.General Order No. 50, signed December 1967, established the Morehead StateUniversity Eagle Battalion with its first class beginning in 1968. Ever since,the Eagle Battalion has enjoyed the strong support and respect of theUniversity and surrounding community.
