RANGER CHALLENGE

The Ranger Challenge is an opportunity for schools to "compete" with each other completing military tasks. In addition to a written examination where Cadets test their Army knowledge, there are physical fitness drills and field exercises. Battalions leave a Ranger Challenge with stronger bonds and sharper skills.

PERSHING RIFLES

The National Society of Pershing Rifles gives Army ROTC Cadets the opportunity to develop to the highest degree possible. Cadets can take part in precision trick rifle drill teams that provide them with the outstanding traits of leadership, military bearing and discipline.

FORREST RAIDERS

The Forrest Raiders is an extracurricular activity for exceptionally motivated freshman to senior year cadets.  These Cadets train in specialized basic tactics and techniques.  Training is conducted by Senior Cadets and selected Cadre on Thursdays.  Specific instruction includes troop leading procedures, orders, patrolling, land navigation, weapons, rappelling, ropes, self-defense, and urban area techniques.  Each semester culminates with a weekend field training exercise, which tests each cadet on selected tasks under adverse conditions.

FIELD TRAINING EXCERCISES

Each spring the cadets participate in a Joint Field Training Exercise with other Tennessee ROTC Cadets.  Each of the schools’ senior cadets coordinates and run an event during the FTX.
