LTC Snyman swore the Lieutenants in and their names joined the list of ISU Lieutenants reaching back almost 25 years. Three times a year ISU has the opportunity to commission new Lieutenants as they complete their degree and commissioning requirements. Families and friends are present to share in the memorable and important event.

Three Second Lieutenants entered the Army on 17 December 2005 during their Commissioning Ceremony.

2LT Justin S. Zimmerman

Lieutenant Zimmerman commissioned in December 2005 and received an educationdelay to pursue a graduate degree in physical therapy.  He received anassignment as a medical specialist on active duty.  His hometown is FortLeonard Wood, MO.  2LT Zimmerman received a Bachelor of Science in Biologyfrom Illinois State University.   He is Airborne qualified.

2LT Deandra Carbone

Deandra E. Carbone is a Second Lieutenant serving in the Illinois NationalGuard in the Medical Service Corps.  She is currently assigned to205th Area Support Medical Battalion.  Her hometown is SleepyHollow, IL.  She commissioned in December 2005 and received her Bachelorof Arts in Mass Communication from Illinois State University.  She is veryproud of commissioning with her two close friends, Lieutenant Zimmerman andLieutenant Harris.

2LT Joseph A. Frederick

Joseph A. Frederick is a Second Lieutenant serving on active duty in theEngineers.  2LT Frederick’s first assignment is with the 2ndInfantry Division in Korea. His hometown is Carol Stream, IL.  Hecommissioned in May 2005 and graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with aBachelor of Science in Business Administration.  When asked about ROTC, hesays his favorite memory was the opportunity to see the world.  During hisfour years in the Redbird Battalion the Army offered him opportunities to seeGeorgia, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Missouri, and Germany.
