A PROUD HISTORY-A BRIGHT FUTURE
The ROTC Battalion has been proud to help develop the leaders of tomorrow.

Air Assault and Airborne
Our Cadets have the opportunity to attend Air Assault and Airborne each year.
Columbus State University was designated a host institution
For Senior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (SROTC) on 24 January 1972.
In 1973, the ROTC Department was authorized its distinctive unit crest
(Modeled after the official seal of Columbus College), and the motto “Primus Inter Pares” or “First among Equals.”
The Battalion name,
Cougar Battalion was adopted after the university’s mascot.
In June1974, the first 12 ROTC graduates were commissioned.
Since then, the Cougar Battalion has commissioned 368 2nd LT’s into the United States Army and we are recognized as one of the strongest units in Cadet Command.
