When you chose to join the Bowie State University Army ROTC, you know you’ve joined a team that believes as one we can achieve little but as a team we can do so much more.

“Leadership Excellence” is historically the motto of ROTC, expressing theultimate responsibility of Army ROTC in the discharge of its duty to theNation.  Throughout, Bowie State University ROTC history, the cadets haveexpressed the same thunderous motto, “Bulldogs Lead the Way!”

Battalion History

The Reserve Officer Training Corp was established at Bowie State Universityin September of 1974, through a cross-enrollment agreement with HowardUniversity.  The program commissioned its first ROTC graduates at the May1978 commencement ceremony.  These first commissionies came from a unit of45 members, including 20 women.  In 1978, BSU became an officialdesignated ROTC Expansion Center of Howard.  With the establishment ofROTC at BSU, a proud tradition of military excellence was initiated.
