After completing your first year of medical school and the Army Medical Department Basic Officer Leader Course, you will have the opportunity to complete clinical rotations in those facilities as part of your active duty training.

Thanks to the F. Edward Hébert Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP), students interested in pursuing a career in medicine can do so without the financial stress. You may be eligible for this full-tuition scholarship if you meet the following requirements:

  • United States citizen
  • Enrolled in or have a letter of acceptance or intent from an accredited graduate program in the United States or Puerto Rico
  • Maintain full-time student status during the entire program

The Army has advanced health centers throughout the world, and after completing your first year of medical school and the Army Medical Department Basic Officer Leader Course, you’ll have the opportunity to complete clinical rotations in those facilities as part of your active duty training — you’re guaranteed to gain experience and knowledge from one of the largest health care organizations in the world.

After graduation, you will transition into the active Army and be promoted to Captain, which means more pay and a higher stipend for food and housing.
