You’re eligible to apply for ROTC scholarships if you’re a high school student enrolling in college, currently-enrolled college student, or an active enlisted Soldier.
Get a Full Scholarship and Monthly Stipends
Get the full college experience, all paid for, in exchange for a commitment to serve in the Army as an Officer after graduation.
- The full scholarships can be applied to any of the more than 1,000 participating schools
- You can receive part of the approximately $250 million in scholarships the Army awards each year
- Your achievements and grades determine if you’ll be awarded a scholarship, not your financial need
Bonuses for Special Areas of Study
Your language skills can earn you even more through our Critical Language Incentive Pay program.
- Earn up to a $3,000 bonus if you study a language in college that matches one of the Army’s important language needs
- Get opportunities to study abroad and learn the language in a local setting while gaining important cultural skills that will set you apart when you graduate and become an Officer
Additional Money for Living Expenses
Receive monthly stipends to offset costs of living.
- All scholarships include an extra $420 per month for the school year to use toward monthly expenses, like housing
Apply While In High School
As a high school junior or senior, you can get a head start on your future by applying for the ROTC National Scholarship, a Four-Year Scholarship, at a participating school.
Your Commitment
Your acceptance of the scholarship means a commitment of:
- Eight years in the Army, Army Reserve, or Army National Guard
- You may be eligible to serve part time while pursuing a civilian career immediately after graduation

Applications opened June 12, 2021. The Army ROTC National Scholarship Board will review applications for the 2021-2022 school year on:
- Oct. 18-22, 2021
- Jan. 24-28, 2022
- Mar. 14-18, 2022
Apply While in College
If you decide to join Army ROTC as a current college student, you’ll have access to Four-Year, Three-Year, or Two-Year Scholarships. Two-Year Scholarships are perfect for those who attend a two-year community college before transferring to a four-year university.
Your Commitment
Four-Year Scholarship:
- Eight years in the Army, Army Reserve, or Army National Guard
- You may be eligible to serve part time while pursuing a civilian career immediately after graduation
Three-Year & Two-Year Scholarships:
- Four years in the Army, Army Reserve, or Army National Guard
- You may be eligible to serve part time while pursuing a civilian career immediately after graduation

Standard Requirements for ROTC Scholarships
To be accepted for any ROTC Scholarship, you must meet these standards:
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be between the ages of 17 and 26
- Have a high school GPA of at least 2.50
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Score a minimum of 1000 on the SAT (math/verbal) or 19 on the ACT (excluding the required writing test scores)
- Pass the Army fitness test
- Meet the physical weight and height requirements
- Agree to accept a commission and serve in the Army on Active Duty or in Army Reserve or Army National Guard
Career-Building Scholarship Programs
Scholarships for Studying Nursing
Nursing students who are in Army ROTC can apply for the Two-Year, Three-Year, or Four-Year Army ROTC scholarships. To apply, follow the directions above for high school students or college students, depending on your education level.
Being a nurse in the Army provides you with opportunities not found in the civilian world, including a three-week paid Nurse Summer Training Program, which introduces students to the Army Medical Department and the roles and responsibilities of an Army Nurse Corps Officer.
Scholarships for Enlisted Soldiers
Enlisted Soldiers have unique scholarship opportunities to earn an undergraduate or graduate degree. Additionally, they allow you to showcase your potential to your division commander and get nominated for a Division Commander’s Two-Year, Three-Year, or Four-Year Hip Pocket Scholarship.
