The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own” is the premier musical organization of the U.S. Army. In 1922, Army Chief of Staff John J. “Black Jack” Pershing directed that the band be built on the tradition of the European military bands he had heard during World War I.

Officially established on June 8, 1817, the West Point Band is the oldest continuously serving Army band, and the oldest unit at West Point. Today, the band consists of multiple elements that perform styles ranging from traditional drum and fife music to concert band to the pop, country, and rock hits of today.
