U.S. ARMY AND NATIONAL SCHOOL BOARD ASSOCIATION CONTINUE LONGSTANDING PARTNERSHIP IN SAN ANTONIO, TX
This past April, the U.S. Army was a proud co-sponsor at the National School Board Association’s (NSBA) Annual Conference in San Antonio, TX. During the 3-day conference, board members and educators engaged in discussions with U.S. Army support personnel in their exhibit space. The U.S. Army led two workshops, one discussing cohesive leadership, and another on the free online test prep tool – March2Success. In addition to the workshops, the U.S. Army led two study halls. These study halls sought to educate attendees in a small, more intimate setting. The first study hall, “The Performance Triad”, covered the importance of a healthy student. The second study hall highlighted how Army ROTC can help students pay for a post-secondary education.
The U.S. Army also was a presenting co-sponsor at the organization’s National Black Council Luncheon. During the event Major General Patrick Sargent of MEDCOM provided remarks about the importance of an educated America. The luncheon was headlined by Mr. Ernest G. Green, a member of the Little Rock Nine, a small group of African American students who attended the all-white (at the time) Central High School, located in Little Rock, Arkansas. Mr. Green’s bravery, along with his fellow students, set in motion the desegregation of schools in our Nation.
