REACHING THE PEAK OF YOUR PERFORMANCE
The U.S. Army expects its Soldiers to be ready, resilient and healthy to meet the demands of defending our Nation – but these traits need not only apply to Soldiers. They can (and should) be adopted by civilian and military personnel alike as they strive to meet the demands of their own lives. Maintaining overall wellness can help lead to success in academic, professional and personal pursuits, but it’s not always easy or convenient.
The U.S. Army Office of the Surgeon General’s Performance Triad Campaign addresses this challenge, integrating sleep, activity and nutrition in helping to impart optimal physical, mental and emotional health and well-being among not just Soldiers, but their families as well.
The Performance Triad emphasizes the following:
- Sleep seven to eight hours per 24 hour period
- Eat eight servings of fruits and vegetables each day
- Exercise for 150 minutes at a moderate level or 75 minutes at a vigorous level each week

While these guidelines may seem obvious, it can be difficult to achieve them amidst the strains of everyday life. The U.S. Army knows that healthy behaviors must be consistently practiced in order to reap their full benefits, and is fully committed to strengthening the overall wellness of all of our Nation’s citizens and Soldiers by offering resources to help, available via this website.
By leveraging the suite of Performance Triad resources, including messaging, curriculum and training, policy development, technology and leader development, anyone can apply the Army’s learnings and tools in their communities, schools, or at home.
