"With tenacity, focus and resilience, brick walls become open doors."
In 2015, Staff Sgt. Katie Ferencik competed and won at the Arabian Sport Horse National Championships in North Carolina. Ferencik hopes to be the first Soldier to compete internationally in Dressage while representing the U.S. Army in 60 years. Dressage is a sport designed to make horses light in battle, and was a military-only competition in the Olympics until the mounted cavalry disbanded in 1946-48. A Soldier has not competed as part of a United States Dressage or Eventing Team at the international level since 1952.
