“Competitive bodybuilding teaches discipline,
commitment, and gives Soldiers something to
focus on outside of the Army.”
CPT Johnny Dotson has served in the Army for 10 years, during that time he has successfully defended his title in the Men's Athletic (Physique) class at the Drug Free Athletic Coalition (DFAC) World. This particular competition is regarded as the pinnacle of natural bodybuilding. In all he has won 23 trophies and medals. CPT Dotson excels during the presentation round because he displays a natural charisma and connects with the audience and judges. He’s also received professional coaching from Ryan Sullivan who specializes in training physique competitors.
As a student at the Army Medical Department Center and School (AMEDDC&S) Health Readiness Center of Excellence (HRCoE) CPT Dotson serves as the assistant class leader in the Master of Social Work (MSW) graduate program. He believes social work is a perfect fit for him because he understands that Soldiers come into the Army as a unique package.
