"I'm learning lessons i would never learn in a textbook."
2nd Lt. Amber English joined the Army
Reserve in February 2017 and shortly after
Basic Training claimed Bronze and Silver
medals in two World Cup competitions.
"Shooting has taught me a lot about
discipline and working hard," English said.
"You learn a lot about yourself when you
are put in difficult, high-pressure
situations. You learn how to control your
emotions. I think I learned a lot from all
the Army training. I learned a lot of
patience...It definitely helped my shooting
career." English is assigned to the U.S.
Army Marksmanship Unit at Fort Benning,
Georgia, where she continues to train in
skeet shooting and is aiming for a possible
journey to the 2020 Olympics.
