U.S. ARMY RESERVE: MILITARY SERVICE FROM HOME
Do you know any students who are interested in military service, but hesitant to re-locate away from their family and friends?
If so, the U.S. Army Reserve may be the right path for them.
It has been for Sergeant Ammie Acosta, who is an Information Technology Specialist in the U.S. Army Reserve. Sgt. Acosta credits the Army with helping her land her desired civilian job as a Senior Systems Engineer through college tuition assistance, specialized training, and leadership experience.
Part-time service in the Army Reserve offers advanced technical training, professional experience, transferable skills and financial assistance through multiple programs. The commitment consists of at least one weekend a month, and two weeks per year and offers the flexibility to stay close to home and continue civilian pursuits full-time, such as attending college or pursuing your career of choice.
Reserve Soldiers bring expertise from their education and civilian experience to the Army and provide added scale, scope and capability to adapt and respond to our Nation’s challenges, while gaining unmatched leadership and teambuilding experience. They are a complementary force to active duty Soldiers and offer medical, logistical, legal, cyber support and more when the Army deploys assistance for natural disasters, capacity building, training exercises and contingency operations.
In return for their service, Reserve Soldiers advance their knowledge and skill sets in their chosen career paths. The Army has more than 120 occupational specialties, in addition to networking, professional development and leadership programs. The Army Reserve also helps Soldiers who qualify, with tuition assistance, student loan repayment and the G.I. bill.
Sgt. Acosta is a powerful example of how service in the Army Reserve can positively impact your life and fast-track your education and career goals. Sgt. Acosta is doing what she loves, serving her country – while staying close to home and family.
