JILL COOK, AMERICAN SCHOOL COUNSELOR ASSOCIATION: PERSONALIZE CAREER PATH DEVELOPMENT.
Jill Cook, assistant director of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) and a long-time Army Advocate, recently authored an article about the responsibility of school counselors to help all students prepare for academic and career success. Jill’s article was published in the November/December issue of ASCA School Counselor magazine.
The article encourages school counselors to introduce students to all possible post-secondary paths, such as college, internship programs, military service, technical training and other options, so students can make informed decisions about their futures. In regards to military service as a viable post-secondary option, Jill shares anecdotes from two school counselors who work with students on a daily basis and have integrated military recruiters into a comprehensive school counseling program.
