SPC ALYSHA FORD

A Family Affair

SPC Alysha Ford: All my family is in the Army. My brother is in the Army, he's a field artillery, my cousins are in the Army, and so I really wanted to follow in their footsteps.

My family was very shocked when I joined the military, but they were very proud.

Growing up, I was a shy, quiet girl, but I've come out of my shell when I joined the Army. I've constantly had to push myself to reach higher levels that I never thought I could achieve. Joining the Army has taught me so many things that I never thought I could do.

Right now I'm studying to be an NCO-a sergeant-and hopefully, one of these days, I'll be a pilot. I've grown into a leader.

My advice to anyone is "go for it." It's a great experience.
