Warrior Challenge

Each Spring the University of Iowa Veteran's Association (UIVA) puts on the "Warrior Challenge" city wide obstacle course through Kinnick Stadium, the nearby neighborhoods and Cretzmeyer Track. Events include climbing over nets, running the stairs in the stadium, sand bag carries and navigating a "spider web". The event helps raise money for the UIVA and the Fischer House Foundation. Cadets in the Army ROTC at Iowa compete every year and it is a great team building event for our program. Cadets at Iowa Army ROTC look forward to Warrior Challenge each year

RANGER CHALLENGE

The Ranger Challenge is an opportunity for schools to "compete" with each other completing military tasks. In addition to a written examination where Cadets test their Army knowledge, there are physical fitness drills and field exercises. Battalions leave a Ranger Challenge with stronger bonds and sharper skills.

PERSHING RIFLES

The National Society of Pershing Rifles gives Army ROTC Cadets the opportunity to develop to the highest degree possible. Cadets can take part in precision trick rifle drill teams that provide them with the outstanding traits of leadership, military bearing and discipline.

Game Ball Run

Each year for the Iowa vs. Iowa State annual football game Cadets from both Army ROTC programs at each school run through local Iowa towns with the school students cheering them on and meet half way for a BBQ in Tama, Iowa. The Visiting team gives the ball to their program and they run ball to the halfway point and hand it over to the Home team. The event helps stock the Iowa Troop Pantry Fund. This past year the event ended by returning the Game Ball to Iowa City at the "Beat State" pep rally with ESPN U filming the event. The event has also been a part of the Fry Fest pep rally as well.

River Run

Each year our Cadets compete in the River Run 5k team group to test our cardio endurance and build Esprit de Corps within our program. Army ROTC at the University of Iowa always fields highly competitive teams for River Run and competes well with the best area teams

Commissioning

The final capstone event of any Cadet’s training in Army ROTC is his or hercommissioning ceremony.  The University of Iowa and Coe College enjoy the privilege and honor of pinning on the gold bars of 2nd Lieutenantsevery December and May.
