ROTC OFFERS MANY OPPORTUNITIES TO EXCEL
In Army ROTC, it's not all classroom and field training. There are many opportunities for you to get to know your fellow cadets better and increase your skills in a variety of areas. Learn more about these events and activities below.
Troops & Trihawks Triathlon, September 17, 2006 at the Coralville Dam. The event consisted of a 500 yard lake swim, a 15-mile bike race, and a 3.1 mile run. Iowa Army ROTC Cadets competed with over 400 other registrants and volunteered their labor to support the execution of this outstanding event. The event featured 3 Cadet Relay Teams and 3 Individual Cadet Competitors. Congratulations to CDTs Lindsay Larson, Laura Walker, and Ron Mortenson for their individual efforts!
Each April, the University of Iowa, Army ROTC, and the surrounding communitycelebrate the arrival of Spring with a weekend of festivities on the IowaRiver. Rock-climbing walls and zodiac-boat races are a part of ArmyROTC’s contribution to the fun.
The final capstone event of any Cadet’s training in Army ROTC is his or hercommissioning ceremony. The University of Iowa and Coe College enjoy theprivilege and honor of pinning on the gold bars of 2nd Lieutenantsevery December and May.
