That higher goal is serving his country and feeling like he’s giving back for all the privileges he has, for the freedom he enjoys as a U.S. citizen. As a Soldier in the Army Reserve, he stands ready to help make the most of what he has learned. The pride and satisfaction he has gained from serving make it easy for him to recommend talking with a Recruiter about the Army Reserve.
“He will be able to take from this learning experience and help others,” Lisa says. “We can see that, even early on in his service, he already is.”
cott Peterson brings many great qualities to the Army Reserve. He has drive and a passion for achievement. How has serving in the Army Reserve affected those qualities? If anything, it’s reinforced them. His mother has seen him “become a strong, confident, capable young man.” He is one who truly lives the Army Values.
Scott acknowledges, “Being a Soldier in the Army Reserve really gave me a lot of direction and motivation, focus, determination and a will to succeed in life in general. I’m actually doing something toward a higher goal.”

Lisa: I feel this experience of joining the Army Reserve has made Scott very strong. He’s very strong as it is, without the Army, an independent thinker, and he’s strong willed. But what it has done for him is made him a magnificent human being.
Scott: For me, being a Soldier in the Army Reserve really gave me a lot of direction and motivation, focus, determination and a will to succeed in life in general. I’m actually doing something toward a higher goal.
Lisa: It’s almost uncanny. You can try to remember the little boy, all the time, and as I see him leaving and going to do his duty in the Army Reserve and he’s in his uniform, I just think, wow, he has really grown up.
Scott: I have a great opportunity to serve my nation, serve my country, and give back for all the freedom and great privileges I have here, being an American citizen.
Lisa: I just can’t stress enough that it was such a good decision for him. He will be able to take from this learning experience and help others.
Scott: I definitely recommend the Army Reserve to any of my friends, all my buddies. The Air Force guy that I’m friends with, I try and tell him, you know, hey, when you re-up, switch over. I’d recommend it to anybody else that wants to be able to go to school, have a civilian life.
Lisa: He just loves it, and he loves it to this day.
Scott: Everyone in my Army Reserve unit, they’re just like another family.
Lisa: He’s just made me so proud over the years. And especially now, being a part of the Army Reserve, he has become a strong, confidant, capable young man. I just love him dearly, and I am very proud of him.
