The CSMC is a five-day course designed to prepare Sergeants Major to perform the duties of a Battalion Command Sergeant Major.

Subject areas include:

• Transitioning the new Command Sergeant Major as the senior enlisted advisor to the Commander
• Interpersonal relationships with the command and staff
• Assigning and utilizing Soldiers
• Developing Training Plans
• Board Exams
• Caring for Soldiers and their Families

The value of the CSMC is realized through the mutual sharing of ideas and experiences among students of different Army-job backgrounds as well as students of both the Active Duty and Army Reserve components.
