PREPARE TO BECOME A SENIOR LEADER

This course is designed for noncommissioned officers to become senior leaders in the Army. This nine-month course prepares new and prospective Sergeants Major for their duties as senior Non-Commissioned Officers in positions throughout the Department of Defense and allied nation forces.

Students who attend the Army Sergeants Major Academy are Non-Commissioned Officers in the ranks of Master Sergeant, First Sergeant and Sergeant Major. Students must complete the course for promotion to Sergeant Major and Command Sergeant Major.

The course broadens the student's already acquired knowledge and is quite different from Army job-related training accomplished at the basic and advanced levels of the Noncommissioned Officer Education System (NCOES). The course provides an educational experience as well as a detailed study of contemporary subjects.

The curriculum focuses on these topics at the highest levels throughout the Army:

  • Leadership
  • Resource management
  • Training management
  • Military operations
