PREPARE TO BECOME A MASTER SERGEANT

The Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course (ANCOC) is an MOS-specific course for Sergeants First Class and promotable Staff Sergeants.

ANCOC is an eight-week, two-day course that prepares Sergeant First Class to serve at Installation Level as well as preparation for Master Sergeant at Division and higher levels. Promotion to Sergeant First Class is conditional upon successful completion of ANCOC. Failure of this course means that the Soldier would be removed from the promotion list or would have to give up the Sergeant First Class rank.

ANCOC includes lessons on writing, communication, computers, environmental awareness, outlines, management, military history and MOS-specific leadership lessons.
