utumn always aspired to attend college. Raised by a single mother, she was well aware of the high costs of a good education and searched for ways to make it more affordable. As a boxer and thrill seeker, she was also looking for new challenges.
When she visited her Recruiter's office, she knew that she didn't want to serve full time in the active Army and learned just how easy it is to balance a personal life with an Army life in the Army Reserve.
“. . . the Army Reserve was really convenient—it’s usually Saturday and Sunday. I can go to school Monday through Friday.”
—Autumn Anderson
Autumn's Recruiter listened to her aspirations and explained how the Army could not only give her an edge in her career but could also help her become a stronger, better-rounded person. After she learned of the skills she'd gain through the advanced training she'd receive as a Soldier, opportunities to grow into a natural leader and, most important, chances to earn money to help pay for college, Autumn knew the Army Reserve was the right choice for her.
In addition to building new friendships in her monthly Battle Assemblies, Autumn is pleased that the decision she made has helped her develop a strength that will last a lifetime.
“I chose the Army Reserve because it’s helping me accomplish my goals, my dreams. I’m definitely a different person. I’m more confident. I know that I could do anything I’d put my mind to. This is something that’s going to stay with me for the rest of my life. I know it’s worth it.”
