2013 AAB WEBISODE 5

Band Day 2

Colonel Holten: Every performance is 55% visual. So the instructors that are working with you understand that and that's why the attention to detail yesterday morning with how you take that first step, how you look, body carriage, all of those things are really important.

You bring so much to this performance with what you do, you really add to the drama of the music.

Jennifer Leseth: This afternoon we're going to integrate the band and color guard together for the first time.

There's a lot of things that they learn on video that we send them prior just like the musicians get their music and they can read music. There's just some things in pageantry that's just organic and you just have to do it on the spot.

William Martin: To be a good color guard member you have to be very observant and when we're doing this and when we're putting show together in such a short amount of time they have to know they're count structure, they have to know the music.

So they actually have to start memorize what that sounds like, so then they can see a visual representation of that.

Taylor Stamos: Today we just kicked it into gear and it's been a long day and it just shows the mental strength, physical strength and emotional strength too.

Its amazing to see where we came from, from yesterday to today. We're so much better, its like a different guard I'm having a blast, I love it.

Martiza Bullock: It really going fast pace, but its like really fun cause everybody wants to be here. You can feel the energy your mind has to be in it.

Because when you're in Army you don't want to lollygag you have to be strong and stand up for what you want. So when you're in color guard you have to hit the right poses and stand up proud.

Monica Eichner: The Army has helped me mentally strong just with the accepting new things in the blink of an eye.

Just having the mental stamina to deal with everything that's out there and just come together and put two products together that's incredible in less than a week is just the definition of Army Strong.
