COMMUNITY + SECURITY
Melissa Glasspoole talks about the sense of community she and her husband share with other families on Post.
Hi, I'm Melissa Glasspoole and my husband is Sergeant First Class Brian Glasspoole, and we live here on Post.
I like the sense of community and the sense of security. Everyone watches all the kids. You know, if I turn my back for a second and Tommy starts to walk down towards the road, I know that Becky's right there, and she's going to grab him.
I mean, it's the "friendly neighborhood" aspect that you don't see a lot - off of an Army Post.
Our last duty station, we did live in the community - off Post - and we didn't know our neighbors. I would have to go to people on Post to get that sense of home.
Whether you've been here for two weeks or for two years, they would do anything for you.
When my husband's deployed, being on Post, I think, is the best situation 'cause you have people going through the same situations you're in and I think that that helps a lot.
Some of my best friends are my neighbors. I believe that my kids are safe when we go to bed at night.
I can sleep - we all kind of watch out for each other.
