82nd Airborne Division
Paratroopers stayed vigilant in their mission to help the Haitian people.
Narrator: Under darkness paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division set up wire fencing to form barriers in waiting lines for that days food drop. This is a necessary part of keeping peace and order without using any force. When the sun comes up and the first food truck has finally arrived the line starts to take shape as hundreds of Haitian women with food tickets make their way to the trucks for their 55lbs bag of rice. Paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne's Divisions Red Falcon Brigade are helping to assist the World Food Program and Samaritan's purse to help feed over two thousand displaced Haitians at this local camp.
Soldier 1: I love helping people out, it makes me feel good, its nice, its nice helping people and seeing their smiling faces.
Soldier 2: We get the outcome we want which is them being safe and secure getting their food without having to use any violence, which is perfect that's what we want so its been like that so far so were not having any issues what so ever.
Civilian: We had a great experience so far your guys and girls are here up early managing the crowd getting the perimeter setup, it just provides a great working environment were able to come in with the trucks with our staff we feel secure and really these operations have gone forward really well and quite stream lined.
Narrator: The line continues as paratroopers stayed vigilant in their mission to help the Haitian people. Reporting from Haiti I'm Army Sgt. Caleb Barrieau.
