Racing Episode 8
What it takes toe reach your goals.
Tony Schumacher - "If you were to ask me when I was growing up at 16, ‘What are your goals in life?’ They wouldn't have been, ‘I want to win by a landslide.’ They would've probably been ‘put me in that situation where everything is on the line for that one shot. Put the ball in my hands.’ And that is what each one of my guys dream about."
Ryan Newman - "Going back to the day when I started racing. I raced when I was 4 ½ years old and my parents were there helping me race. My sister stared racing, eventually."
Specialists - Nathan Miller "I joined up cause it was actually a childhood dream of mine. I had a bunch of friends and family that are in the military service."
Specialist - Thomas Carter "It’s like a lifelong dream to be a tanker, so that I can say I lived the dream for a little bit. I accomplished one of my childhood dreams. You don't often get to say that."
Staff Sergeant - Kristopher Smith "I actually went to a recruiter. Instead of a recruiter, you know they go out and look for people, I actually went in and asked a few questions."
Staff Sergeant - David Rozmarin "During that first basic training time they learn all the core infantryman tactics and how to become a soldier."
Sergeant - Dustin White
"I was a little skinny punk, you know, 140 lbs. I came out at 165 lbs. I gained some weight and some muscle. So you know, I was looking pretty good."
Specialist - Thomas Carter "It was the hardest thing I've ever done, but it was actually far easier than I thought. I thought it would be like, ‘I don't even know if I can make this.’ But you get there and you're like, ‘I can do this.” This is entirely possible for me to do.’"
Ryan Newman - "I think anytime our team can overcome any kind of adversity, it's a sense of winning because we've achieved something."
Specialist - Thomas Carter "I joined the Army and I didn't know I could do a lot of things that I can. That I can put a 20 hour day with the hardest work I ever thought I could do and be ready to do it again the next day. I didn't know I could do that but I can."
Sergeant - Dustin White "Everybody has to work together and everybody has to be strong and has to have some sort of sacrifice. Has to have a drive, a will to fight for something."
Tony Schumacher - "In drag race, I can see the finish line from the starting line. It's 1,000 feet away. Victory, world champ ring, the trophy and all that that goes with it is sitting 1,000 feet away from me. My guys can see it, I can see it, we focus on it, and we have to be the best in the business to get there first and I think that's what it's all about."
