ARMY MEDICAL SERVICE CORPS: THE MOST DIVERSE AND INTEGRAL PART OF THE ARMY HEALTH CARE TEAM

The Medical Service Corps is comprised of numerous specialties that are divided into the following groupings: Behavioral Sciences, Laboratory Sciences, Optometry, Pharmacy, Podiatry and Preventive Medicine Sciences. Behavioral Sciences

In Army Behavioral Sciences Corps, you can specialize in the following career fields:

  • Social Worker
  • Clinical Psychologist
  • Counseling Psychologist

Laboratory Sciences

There are four broad biomedical career fields that are available to Army Laboratory Science Officers:

  • Biochemist
  • Clinical Laboratory Officer
  • Microbiologist
  • Research Psychology

Preventive Medicine Sciences

There are five Preventive Medicine Sciences career fields from which to choose:

  • Nuclear Medical Science Officer
  • Entomologist
  • Audiologist
  • Environmental Science Officer
  • Sanitary Engineer

MEDICAL SERVICE CORPS REQUIREMENTS
  • Meet the prescribed medical and moral standards for appointment as a medical officer.
  • Be 21-42 years of age (waivers on a case-by-case basis)
  • Experienced health care professionals ages 43 to 60 years old may apply for the new two-year service obligation option. Learn More
  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Have a favorable security investigation completed.
  • Have a degree in a required specialty and if required for the specialty has a current license and or board certification.
