TRIPLER ARMY MEDICAL CENTER.

The Tripler Army Medical Center, located in Hawaii, is the largest Army medical treatment facility in the Pacific Basin.  Located a short distance from Waikiki Beach, Tripler's area of responsibility includes Hawaii, Japan, Johnston Atoll, Guam, Eniwetok, Kwajalein, various Pacific Island Nations, and American Samoa.

Tripler Hospital was originally established in 1907. The attack of Pearl Harbor in 1941 led to the construction of Tripler Army Medical Center on a ridge overlooking Honolulu.

Today, TAMC supports 264,000 local active duty and retired military personnel, their families and veteran beneficiaries. It is also the home of the Pacific Regional Medical Command, one of six geographically-based regional medical commands in the U.S. Army Medical Command.

Additionally, the Center of Excellence in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance is located at the facility. That center works with the United States Pacific Command, University of Hawaii at Mānoa, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Pacific Regional Medical Command for research, education and training.

United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations has designated the Center of Excellence as a Peace Operations Institute, the only United Nations designated Peace Operations Institute currently in the United States.
