A strong communication network is critical to the Army's success. A Multichannel Transmission Systems Operator-Maintainer works directly on communication devices and equipment that communicate through more than one channel. They are responsible for installation, repair, operation and maintenance check of these devices, antennae and associated equipment.
Some of your duties as a Multichannel Transmission Systems Operator-Maintainer may include:
- Install, operate, and perform unit level maintenance on assigned equipment
- Analyze BIT/BITE diagnostics to isolate faults to the Line Replaceable Unit
- Install, operate, perform strapping, restrapping, maintenance, and unit level maintenance on security devices
- Operate and perform Maintenance on assigned vehicles
- Install, operate, and perform maintenance on assigned power generators
Job training for a Multichannel Transmission Systems Operator-Maintainer requires nine weeks of Basic Training, where you learn basic Soldiering skills, followed by 18 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, including hands-on training with multichannel transmitters and associated equipment. Some of the skills you'll learn are:
- Installing and operating multi-channel transmission equipment
- Performing maintenance checks and services on associated transmission vehicles
- Operating diagnostic equipment specific to network switches

Advanced level Multichannel Transmissions Systems Operator-Maintainer provides guidance, supervises and trains other Soldiers within their discipline. As an advanced level Multichannel Transmission Systems Operator-Maintainer, you may be involved in:
- Supervise operations and assists team members in the installation and operation of multi-channel line-of-site and tropospheric scatter communications systems
- Supervise, perform and assists team members in the performance of unit level maintenance on assigned communications equipment
- Request logistical support
- Prepare input for statistical and other operational reports
